The Engine Crane (also referred as engine hoist) is a common repair tool used in vehicle repair shops to remove or install gasoline or diesel engines in small and crowded vehicle engine compartments. It uses a heavy cantilevered support structure to hold the engine in mid-air so that the mechanic can carefully connect or disconnect fragile hoses and wires on the engine to the frame of the vehicle.

How to Use:

  • Lifting
Turn the handle/release valve clockwise to the closed position.
Identify the maximum amount of load able to be lifted based off of boom position.
Ensure that the product being lifted can safely be lifted by this product.
Secure the load to the crane and ensure that the load is a centered as possible.
Before moving the load, ensure that the load is at the lowest practical position and ensuring that the load is below the center of gravity of the unit.
Ensure that the load cannot swing while being moved. This can cause serious injury and/or property damage.
  • Lowering
Once the engine has been secured to an appropriated device, turn the handle/release valve slowly counter-clockwise to lower the crane boom until the engine is no longer supported by the Engine crane.
Disconnect all of the crane fasteners secured to the engine and carefully pull the Engine Crane away from the engine.
